Sweetheart Socks in Panda Cotton |

Frogging.....
In amongst the stash I found some Panda Cotton Sock yarn from Crystal Palace Yarns, this is 55% bamboo, 24% cotton and 21% elastic nylon. The sweetheart socks where a winner so I've decided to knit myself another pair with this yarn. I've never used this particular yarn before and while it's easy to knit with I was a little disappointed by the amount of joins I encountered while knitting in the first few yards. I had planned to weave these in but instead I decided to frog (rip out) what I'd knitted so far. Originally I was knitting these on 2.5mm (size 2 US) Opal Bamboo needles but these have bent to the shape of my fingers over time so I've restarted them on 2.25mm.The finished result is slightly neater and I'm pleased I decided to restart the project. Needles are a very personal thing ans something I will look at in more detail another time. High on my wish list and what I plan to buy myself in the near future are a pair of Sock Stix from Lantern Moon in either rosewood or ebony.

Snow.....and stash busting!
Most of you in the amber weather alert areas in the UK will be struggling to get home in the bad weather. I have just had a terrible commute, but we've arrived home safe and sound. For those of you still out there or still working and due to drive later this evening may I wish you a safe journey.
On a positive note this weather means more time at home over the weekend, whoop whoop. I have decided to have a sort out around the home and OMG the amount of yarn I have stashed around the house is unbelievable. There must be pounds worth of Rowan stored in cupboards and boxes, I'm like a child in a toy store! 13 hanks of Magpie Tweed in a beautiful shade of squirrel, a half knitted monkey from the PG Tips advert, 2 hanks of lace and 1 hank of sock yarn from Posh Yarn are also lurking in a draw under the bed. Seeing is believing so I will post pictures once I have recovered form the shock.
See you a round later.....

New Year New Knits......
New Year new look.....
These were a really easy basic 64 stitch top down pattern with a very simple but effective motif. I am really please with the way they have turned out. The yarn is a beautiful hand dyed 100% merino superwash wool in Winter Spice from Piece of Beauty Yarn Store. This was gifted by a fellow knitter purlpower who I met some time back while on the 'knitty' web site some time ago. So a big thank you to purlpower, I'm just sorry its sat in a stash for so long as they are beautiful to wear.
